In the time of a global pandemic, we can all use a little uplifting from time to time. Healthcare workers, on the front lines of this crisis, could use it more than most. Fortunately, there’s no better way to brighten up your day than to have your favorite celebrity pop over for a video chat.
And that’s exactly what Jimmy Kimmel and Mark Hamill decided to do for San Diego nurse Chloe Ducos, who works in a tent providing Coronavirus tests to local residents while continuing to teach classes at night.
As her and Jimmy Kimmel went on to talk about her love of the Star Wars films and how she has marathoned the trilogies from start to finish more than ten times, Mark Hamill joined the video chat to surprise her as the iconic John Williams Star Wars theme played in the background.
After teasing that she had seen the films more times than he had, Mark Hamill went on to laud the nurse, saying, “I’ve been reading about all you’ve done, six years as a nurse, teaching at night, you’re in the tents…I mean, that’s so great, I mean to me, I’m a pretend hero, you’re the real life hero. So thank you for your service.” The comments, understandably, brought the nurse to tears.
If high praise from the actor behind Luke Skywalker wasn’t enough, Mark Hamill also announced that he was going to be sending her a personally autographed lightsaber, under the condition that she doesn’t bring it to any protests, of course.
